#174 – SHINE BY GRASPING THE GOSPEL (20/8/20)

‘Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. ’ (Philippians 2:15-16).

We ‘shine among them like stars as…’ ‘As you’ what?


Those who treasure the ‘word of life’ will shine in this world. If we are distracted, lazy, prioritising secondary things, making excuses… we will fail to treasure the word of life and become dark stars.


Every Christian must have a daily discipline of taking in God’s word.

‘Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”’ (Matthew 4:4)

When I first read the bible I needed a dictionary to understand many of the words, if you are hungry you will eat! The church in our nation has never had more resources at the same time as starving and failing to shine because she is eating junk food rather than God’s word. If this is you, you need to repent for your sake and the sake of others.
