Welcome to this Come to Jesus Daily Devotional where we are continuing in our Wisdom for Life series from Proverbs.
Today, from Proverbs 1:20-21, we reflect on how God passionately wants us to listen to His wisdom because He knows how much we need it.

‘Out in the open, wisdom calls aloud; she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall, she cries out; at the city gate, she makes her speech…’ (Proverbs 1:20-21)
Here, wisdom is presented as a woman who is publicly seeking to call people away from foolishness and towards wisdom. This is no hidden call. In public places, she calls to us. How are we to understand this?
i. God wants to teach us wisdom
Firstly, God, in various ways, is wanting to teach us wisdom, and He will do all that is required to get our attention and show us the right way to take. We must trust that God, in His own time and way, will teach us what we need to know at the right time. Whether we are faced with the choice between two different paths or whether we are unaware of foolishness in our lives, God will communicate His wisdom to us— if, of course, we are willing to listen and are in a right relationship to Him!
ii. Learn from the ‘city’
Secondly, the public nature of wisdom’s call is about how we can learn wisdom by looking at life around us. If we have eyes to see, we can learn from the mistakes and successes of those around us. We can see the person who is foolish and wise with money, relationships, food, exercise… and learn from this public display of wisdom.
God passionately wants us to listen to His wisdom because He knows how much we need it. As we go about our daily lives, how can we have one ear attuned to the voice of God?
Let’s pray together:
“Father, I thank you that you love me and want to lead me away from foolishness and toward wisdom. Please speak to me where I need to turn from foolishness and toward your wisdom. Please help me to learn from those around me— both the traps of foolishness and the freedom of wisdom. Amen.”

5. SIV (Serve, Invest, and Invite)
How might the wisdom in this week's section of Proverbs help us to be a light for Jesus?
Have you had any recent opportunities to Serve, Invest in, or Invite someone toward Jesus? Let’s encourage one another by sharing testimonies of God at work through us.
6. Let’s pray together:
Let’s pray for one another based on our study, and bring before God any other needs or requests for prayer.
Pray for one another's SIV opportunities and boldness in following the Spirit's promptings.
Pray specifically for the 'people of peace' in our lives—asking God to open hearts and provide opportunities to speak life and truth.
