#256 – 2021 WILL BE GREAT IF…WE PROPERLY DEFINE GREATNESS (4/1/21)

As we go into 2021, how would you complete the phrase, ‘2021 will be great if…’ The New Year is not important, but these moments can be helpful in causing us to stop and ‘re-launch’ our lives.

Let’s remember that the Titanic was launched with champagne, but we all know where that was going! None of us want to give our lives to crossing the wrong sea to the wrong place! Too often I can get my compass of success from those who don’t know what they are talking about. Our vision for a successful life or church can become orientated toward ungodly pursuits or standards.

Jesus defines true greatness, which is surely something that we all want, in this way,

“The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:11-12)

How do you or are you tempted to ‘exalt’ yourself?

What does it mean to humble yourself before God?

What does it mean to humble yourself before people?

Take a moment to meditate and pray out of Jesus’ vision for greatness. How does the Spirit want you to respond?
