Oftentimes, we can see the church as weak and ineffective. ‘If only we had more people with greater talent and celebrity…’ We can speculate in the manner of a sport’s team: “if only we had these star players, then we could win!” However, the church is God’s chosen people and His wisdom He has picked normal people like you and me…we are it! We must not discount ourselves. Jesus has all authority and, therefore, has the power to make us successful. These first disciples ‘turned the world upside down’ and He can do the same with normal people like us. The Church is as strong and effective and her commitment to being and making disciples.
Please read Acts 4:13; 1 Corinthians 1:26-27 and consider:
Is there anything from these verses that the Holy Spirit is highlighting to you?
Who are the kinds of people that are chosen to be disciples?
Are you more aware of your weaknesses, or of God’s choice and sufficient power to use all of us for His mission? (See Acts 1:8)
To memorise this week: Matthew 28:19-20
‘Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

This week we began a series on discipleship based upon The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20. Let's begin by reading this (this is also our memory verse for this week).
